Sexual Intimacy with a Man

Many men find sex easier than having intimacy with a man, yet it is what so many men yearn for.  As a man comes out after many years of life inside a marriage to a woman, they often have a unique set of challenges they need to face.  For many men growing up in the 1960's until recently man to man intimacy was not talked about very much.  Men often have to fight their own internalized homophobia about being gay or bisexual before they can move into a deeply intimate relationship with another man.

​Some of the topics the meeting explored, included:

• Does casual sex with a man leave you satisfied or does it leave you deeply empty?
• What is the transition from casual sex to true intimacy?
• Have you been able to have intimacy with another man?  If not, what stops you?
• Have you confused the need for physical contact with a man with achieving deep intimacy with a man?
• Does your own internalized homophobia stop you from seeing the possibility of a deep, meaningful relationship with another man?
• Does the way you currently interact with other men leave you deeply satisfied or lonely?
• What experience, relationship, feelings, or meaning do you yearn for with another man?
• Is intimacy important to you?  If it is, what do you think gets in your way to achieving intimacy with a man?
• Is there still shame, old stereotypes about being gay or bisexual or internalized homophobia that gets in the way of you ability to be intimate with another man?
• Does coming out to family, friends and work impact your ability to get close to another man?
